Yoga for Arthritis Teacher Training
(for Yoga Teachers who have completed a 200 hr program or more)
Yoga for Arthritis was developed by yoga researcher and arthritis expert Steffany Moonaz, PhD, along with an interdisciplinary team, including rheumatologists, psychologists, public health researchers and yoga therapists. Combining ancient yoga practices with modern medical knowledge, this program offers modifications to address the unique abilities and limitations of persons with arthritis. In a 7-year randomized clinical trial at Johns Hopkins University, the program’s participation was associated with improved arthritis symptoms, physical fitness, psychological functioning and quality of life. Such evidence is vital for bridging the integrative yoga world with medical healthcare, making these practices more accessible to those who really need them.
This training program trains yoga teachers to safely and effectively impart rigorously researched yoga practices, with individually-tailored modifications, to those with arthritis and related conditions. As a result of taking this Yoga for Arthritis teacher training program, participants will be able to:

Praise for Teacher Training
This advanced training program exceeded my expectations for content, quality of delivery, and valuable materials provided. Ann capably and succinctly delivered information that I could immediately apply in my classes. The next day when teaching a pose modification, one of my students yelled out: "Where does she come up with this stuff?!" I answered: "The Yoga for Arthritis Teacher Training!"
I enrolled in this by recommendation from a fellow yoga teacher who raved about the program. I left the class inspired and enthused and am now raving about it myself. HERE is a training program that delivers bang for your buck. BANG! Without reservation, I highly recommend this program.

Praise for Mentorship
Ann offers mentorship (via Skype) toward being certified Yoga for Arthritis Teacher (after level 1). Click HERE to learn more about mentorship.
Ann first co-taught my Yoga for Arthritis Teacher Training in Yogaville and then became my mentor. She models competence and responsibility. She kept me on track during the mentorship, generously sharing the lessons she has learned by successfully walking this path.
Her detailed knowledge shines and inspires a sense of trust that she grasps the current research behind yoga therapy.
And Ann is kind and supportive, traits that every mentor should possess. Nevertheless, she doesn’t hesitate to offer a challenge when I need it. I couldn’t recommend Ann Swanson more as a Yoga for Arthritis mentor.
